Allodoxaphobia

Allodoxaphobia is the fear of other people’s opinions.

The ways in which social media are changing mean that we are exposed to information, noise, opinions, lies, art and science; we shine a light on things that are best left in the darkness, and we astonish ourselves with the good and the bad in equal measure.  One of the problems that flow from this vast expanse of data is that we have become more and more fearful of other people’s views.  People seem to have become entrenched, rather than engaging in debate, discussion and learning.

Life can be fun, but for heaven’s sake let’s chat, let’s agree and disagree, let’s enjoy each other’s company.

Let’s not be allodoxaphobic
