Antidepressants are being handed out to people who are bereaved, suffering sexual problems or are unable to sleep, claims a scientific paper
I have to say this does not surprise me. There is a huge debate to be had about who we turn to for help. Is the GP the best person to talk to for psychosocial problems? Where does a person go with sadness, bereavement, poor housing, debt worries? Easier to bundle it up as ‘depression’ and get a prescription. Unhelpful, but easier.
