Heathrow Airport recreates departure day for a young man with autism

Kevin Friery‘s insight:

I find this story disturbing.  He has been attending this specialist school for children with autism, who claim "…Students take on challenges, learn to overcome obstacles and gain confidence from their own success." This is all based on a gloriously research free Japanese theory called Daily Life Therapy.  If, after 5 years, he still needs Heathrow to make the admittedly-heroic efforts to maintain everything as they have done, I would suggest the parents might want to re-evaluate the provision and ask whether Aaron really is having his needs met and his potential fulfilled.
